May 6, 2007 Sunday Evening

This evening, we continued with our study of the book of Ephesians. Bro Dale led the Bible study and briefly covered the remainder of the 1st chapter. He also started the 2nd chapter and spent a little time sharing one of his personal experiences with regard to the passing of his mother. Whether coincidence or not, while preparing for this Bible study, Bro Dale realized that today was the 4th anniversary of her funeral. He pointed out that just prior to her passing, she had gotten a new Bible. The only place she had made any marking in her new Bible was to underline the two words found in Ephesians 2:4, but God. The entire passage says: But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

We are so thankful that God can make a saint out of a sinner! These two little words sum up the goodness of God and His great plan of salvation!

We ended the meeting by all joining in and singing If it wasn’t for Jesus.

If it wasn’t for Jesus, Where would I be?
Bound up in sin and misery.
But He loosened my shackles, and then set me free,
If it wasn’t for Jesus, Where would I be?

If I didn’t have Jesus, Where would I be?
Without a Savior, to watch over me.
I’d be headed the wrong way, to eternity.
If it wasn’t for Jesus, where would I be?

If it wasn’t for Jesus, Where would I go?
To find peace and joy, when I’m feeling low?
Someone to talk to, who understands me,
If it wasn’t for Jesus, where would I be?
