Today is Mother's Day. In honor of this special occasion, all of our mothers, including our spiritual "mothers in Zion", received a box of Esther Price candies as a token of our appreciation of them.

One of our mothers, Sister Marvis Maudine Laywell, is the mother of 13 children, one of whom is now in heaven (see her recent picture above with 11 of her 13 children). This is a special day for her as not long ago she developed spinal meningitis and suffered a major stroke. She was at home in her chair and when her daughter came to check on her, she had stopped breathing. The squad was called and they resuscitated her, but they did not give her much hope She laid in a coma for several days and was at the brink of death's door, However, God has miraculously intervened in her behalf. She loves gathering together with the saints and singing and exhorting and praying. She has contributed to many a lesson with her unique insight and gift of compassion..... and that continual smile on her face! She has been a wonderful example of a godly mother and a true saint of God.

Bro Dale brought a lesson from Luke 10:38-42 titled Choosing the Good Part. He contrasted the busy happenings of Martha and that of her sister Mary, who sat at Jesus feet. He reminded us that we should not get caught up in the temporal things of life, even "spiritual things" that we have no time to sit at Jesus' feet and commune with Him.
