Once again we come to the Shelter House,
to unite in songs of praise!
This morning,
the church of God met at George Rogers Clark Park here in
Springfield, Ohio. There were over 50 in attendance, including some
visitors. This 248 acre park was the site of a battle between a
unified Indian front and militiamen from Kentucky under the command
of General George Rogers Clark. In this battle, known as The Battle
of Peckuwe (Piqua), the Native American tribes of the Delaware,
Miami, Wyandot, and Shawnee, supported by British troops from
Canada, joined together to repel the advancement of the Colonial
Army. This battle would become the largest Revolutionary War battle
west of the Alleghenies.
On this absolutely beautiful day, the saints shared in songs of
encouragement and victory. Afterward, Bro Dillow brought a lesson on
running the race and used several illustrations about marathon
runners. Bro Joe Coons also shared with us some of his personnel
experiences in running as in his past he was an avid long distance
runner. It was a encouraging lesson.
This meeting was followed by a potluck dinner on the grounds.
Everyone contributed and it was a feast made for a King, or in this
case, kings and priests!! After lunch, some of the children went
frog hunting and Anna Coons caught the largest frog that many of us
had ever seen! Other children caught small fish, tadpoles and crawl
dads.
Several of the saints were out due to a local high school
graduation, but we had a good time of fellowship.
