2007 Sunday Morning
Repentance was the
theme of Bro Joe Coon’s Sunday morning lesson here at the Courtyard
Marriott. He dealt extensively about repentance and what it meant –
deep remorse over hurting God and turning in the opposite direction.
There was much input from the group as different ones shared thoughts
and personal testimonies of their repentance experience. We are
learning to “exhort one another” not just in designated “testimony
services” but in all the gatherings that we have.
Bro Joe
interspersed his teaching with singing just like he does in his rest
home service ministry. In between songs, he would teach and exhort, and
then would sing a song to go along with the thought, and we would join
in as a congregation. In fact, he didn’t put his guitar down until he
was done with the lesson. Truly, this was a demonstration of Col 3:16
where the saints were “teaching and admonishing one another in psalms,
hymns, and spiritual songs.” Singing is really a ministry in itself.
When a person really thinks about the words he is singing, songs can be
a source of teaching, especially ones that are loaded with biblical
truth. We thank God for Bro Joe’s singing ministry and how he was able
to exercise his gifting with us this morning.
