The Wrong (Right) Phone Number,

It was a lonely day in the Clark County Jail for Daniel (last name withheld for privacy reasons). He was charged with a felony crime and was facing certain prison time.

Daniel had a very rough upbringing and got involved with the wrong crowd at a young age. All alone in jail cell that day, and under suicide watch, he decided to call his sister.

But something happened. God works in mysterious ways sometimes.

Bro Dillow was at home that evening enjoying some relaxing time when the phone rang. The caller ID said Clark County Jail. Bro Dillow thought, "Who could that be?". But, he took the call nonetheless, accepting the collect call charge.

Well, you guessed it. Daniel had accidently dialed the wrong number, inadvertently pushing one wrong button on the phone's key pad. Instead of reaching his sister, Daniel reached Bro Dillow.

Desperately needing someone to talk to, Daniel unloaded his heart to Bro Dillow. He told how everything was falling apart piece by piece and that he was at an all-time low place in his life. The situation looked hopeless and no one seemed to care.

Bro Dillow listened and was able to share the Gospel story with Daniel. Shortly after, the Lord worked it out where Bro Dillow was able to make personal ministerial visits with Daniel at the county jail and he took Daniel some Gospel literature to read. The phone calls continued. They developed a close bond and Bro Dillow has become a father figure to Daniel.

This past week, on Christmas Eve, Daniel was brought before the court for a hearing regarding the charges against him. Through the process of review, there was a possibility that the felony charge might get reduced to a misdemeanor, which is a lesser charge with lesser penalties. The saints went to prayer on his behalf that God would have mercy on his situation and intervene on Daniel's behalf.

Well, God answered prayer. You see, Daniel has expressed an interest in getting to know God in a personal way. Until this point in his life, he has known nothing about true salvation. Only sin and a hard life. We could not see where it would be spiritually beneficial for him to be sent off to prison, where our contact with him would be virtually cut off.

God likes to work when nothing else will. After examining the evidence, the judge decided to reduce the charges against Daniel and they released him from jail on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day was his 21th birthday and after being jailed for about 69 days, he was able to spend time with his family and with the Dillows. His desire is to meet with the saints regularly and to get his life turned around.

Daniel loved meeting with the saints for the first time today and enjoyed the presence of the Spirit of God. He listened attentively to the lesson and followed along with the words of the songs. He also enjoyed the family time after the meeting and said that he had not had a dinner like that in a long time.

Please pray that God will continue to reveal Himself to Daniel and that he will see Christ through our lives and that he will come into a full and complete relationship with the Savior.

We will keep our website viewers updated as this story develops further.
