Bro Dale Rude brought an instructional message at the second of our discipleship classes in South Charleston, Ohio. The subject was “What is truth”. He pointed out that God’s will is that everyone be saved and come to knowledge of the truth. He explained the difference between "absolute truth" and what some are calling "relative truth". The Word of God is absolutely true because it corresponds to factual reality. Christians recognize the absoluteness of truth and therefore believe in moral rights and wrongs. To be a true Christian one must accept Jesus and His Word as the ultimate source of truth. The world views truth as relative, or in other words, it changes depending on the views of persons or cultures, not on whether statements correspond to objective or absolute reality. People who believe that truth is relative say things like: "Well, if that's true for you than that’s okay with me..." or "We can't judge other people".  He reminded us of 10 fundamental truths that are unchanging. These are:

1. God is a God of truth and the Word of God is truth - Deu 32:4; Jn 17:17

2. Jesus is the truth, and full of truth, and spoke the truth – John 14:6; 1:14; 8:45

3. Jesus Came to save His people from their sins, not in their sins. Matt 1:21

4. We must repent and turn from sin, deny ourselves and forsake all to be a Christian – Act 26:20, Matt 19:29, Matt 16:24

5. We are to live a holy life – 1 Peter 1:15 - 16  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

6. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and guides us into all the truth - John 14:17; 16:13

7. The judgments of God are according to truth - Psa 96:13; Rom 2:2

8. Christians should walk in the truth as revealed by Jesus, including the standard of morality He taught - Eph 4:17-32; 5:1-17

9. Christians should patiently teach others the truth - 2 Tim 2:23-26

10. Many will turn their ears away from the truth - 2 Tim 4:1-4

We are once again thankful for the visitors who came out to this meeting. Some expressed their need for salvation and confessed that they are counting the cost and making moves towards God. They said that they were thankful for these meetings and that they were learning more about God. We encouraged them to think seriously about their salvation and to seek God with their whole heart. We believe they are in the process of bringing forth “fruits meet for repentance”.

Please pray for these meetings, for those who have expressed interest in salvation, and for the community of South Charleston, Ohio.
