Sunday Morning Meeting We were thankful for the visitors we had Sunday morning. One man was invited to the meeting who was homeless and living under a nearby bridge. He was soak and wet and hungry. We fed him and gave him nice clean, dry clothing. He was also able to experience the presence of God in our meeting. Our hope is that he will be led into a new relationship with God. We are striving to let Christ be the head of our gatherings instead of having them pre-programmed. While we make tentative plans for the services, we commit those to God and allow Him to direct in our meeting as He sees fit. This creates more of an open meeting where ministry flows from one another out of the people’s hearts instead of being “program driven”. This morning happened to be one of those services where our plans were interrupted. One visiting brother from Oklahoma felt the Lord had given him a topic to expound to us. Bro. Tommy Melot shared with us from John 12:27 “For this cause came I unto this hour.” He explained that the “cause of Christ” we are to be concerned with is salvation of souls – reconciling them back to the Father – not building up our own church name, church growth, our wallets, or personal fame. Christ and Christ alone should be lifted up and nothing else. When He is lifted up, he will draw people to him and his work will be accomplished. Let’s make sure we are building up God’s work and not our own. |
