Meeting Report Dec
31,
2006:
This morning, the
last Sunday morning of 2006, a group of us worshipped the Lord with the
saints in Washington Court House, Ohio. Sis Ozzie Wattleton, 91 year old
pioneer of the Church of God Reformation Movement, preached a powerful
message taken from Acts 4:33 where it says “And with great power gave
the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great
grace was upon them all.” She started by asking the question; “How is
the church today as compared to the church we read about in the book of
Acts?” All week long she had carried a heavy burden to bring this
message, which we believe that every congregation needs to hear today.
She very accurately articulated the timeline of the gospel letters
written to the morning time church and showed that apostasy set in when
the ministry failed to hold steadfast to what Jesus had commissioned
them to do. He told them to first be filled with the Spirit of God and
then to go and labor in the field of harvest (the world, Matt 13:38).
She pointed out that when we neglect field labor and replace it with a
focus on emotional hyped-up programs and filling up “church buildings”
with religious, powerless people, we have failed in our mission. In
most congregations today, there is simply a form of godliness, with
little to no real spiritual power. Thank God for a minister who will
speak the truth, even when it hurts!
At the end of the
message, many gathered round in earnest prayer seeking forgiveness and
petitioning God for His anointing in their lives. It was a time of
spiritual refreshing.
Sis Wattleton is a
gifted and experienced minister with much insight into the need of our
day. At 91 years of age, and for the remaining years of her life, she is
determined to carry the gospel to all who will take heed. Our prayer is
that God will grant her with many more fruitful years of ministry.
In the evening, we
met with about thirty saints in a home for a time of sweet fellowship.
God is doing great things and we are thankful to be numbered among those
who will “follow the Lamb wherever He leads”. It was a time of sharing,
caring and singing, and when the last moments of 2006 ended and the
first moments of 2007 came upon us, we were kneeling in collective
prayer thanking God for His faithfulness to us and for what we are
expecting Him to do through us in the coming year. It was said that this
past year, even with all of its difficult challenges and fiery trials,
was the most rewarding time that we have ever had in our Christian life!
The devil has fought these outreach efforts in ways that we could have
never even imagined, but by the help of God, we have overcome all the
enemy’s obstacles and the devil is under our feet. Praise the Lord! We
are expecting GREAT things in the coming year. Our goal is to do more
for Heaven, in 2007!
Happy
New Year to all!
