Feb 25, 2007 Sunday Morning:

The weather outside is frightful, inside it's so delightful.....

Last night and early this morning, we had a ice storm come through our area. We were unable to attend service with the saints, so we had family devotion time in our home.

Isaiah 64:8  But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Using this scripture as her text, Megan (11 years old) led a Bible study on the clay and the potter Sunday morning.  As Christians, we are to be like clay in the potter’s hand so He can mold and shape our lives according to His will.  We discussed how clay can become hard when neglected and left to sit out in the air.  Likewise, if we neglect our Christian experience for awhile, we will begin to harden towards God and His efforts to shape us.

Sometimes the clay has to be worked and reworked before it makes a vessel that the potter can be proud of.  Similarly, in our life, there are times when mistakes or imperfections need to be “worked out” of our vessel before God shapes us into a finished product.  Mistakes are inevitable and a part of the Christian growth experience.  Thankfully, God won’t throw the whole lump away but will work with it patiently until it produces the vessel He wants.

We are thankful to God for laying it upon Megan’s heart to bring this lesson.  She studied and came forward on her own, asking permission to bring a lesson.  It is good to see that God is moving on the hearts of the younger ones to pursue their own private devotional time with Him. Surely, God is shaping the youth into vessels He can use for His glory.
