This evening we met in
house assembly. Several of the
saints were unable to attend due to sickness, but we still
had a good number in attendance.
One of the young people had recently inquired about who Lucifer was and if he was a fallen angel from heaven. In response, we conducted a Bible study to look into the matter. Three primary passages were examined in detail. Those passages were: Isaiah 14:4-16; Daniel 4:19-22, Revelation 12:7-9 and Luke 10:18. We discovered that none of these verses referred to a literal event in which the devil (as an angel) was cast out of God's heaven. Isaiah's passage was written to King Nebuchadnezzar and described his rise and fall in the kingdom of Babylon. The war in heaven described in Revelation 12 was referring to the false religion of Paganism and the battle that was won by the early church. The passage in Luke was referring to Satan being dethroned from the heart of sinners, by the authority of Jesus Christ. After we studied these three texts, we looked at Isaiah 45:7, Isaiah 54:16, John 8:44 and Colossians 1:16-17. In conclusion, we found that God created the devil to allow us to exercise our choice to love Him and choose Him instead of serving the devil. We are thankful to be serving a heavenly Father who is above all, through all and in all of His children. He is above Satan and He is able to help us to understand the wiles of the devil and be continuously victorious over him.
