Friday Evening, November 2, 2007,
I will Praise Him! I will praise Him! The meeting opened up this evening with praises being offered up to Our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is worthy of our highest praise! Our revival choir sang "I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus" and "Love Found A Pardon For Me". It was such a heavenly atmosphere to be in! Once again, the saints shared in testimony and song, as 50 gathered in for the meeting. Two sisters testified that they are so glad to understand the true character of God. He is a loving Father, not a dictator or tyrant eagerly waiting to punish His errant child. Many have given Him a false identity! Both sisters testified that they are having to "unlearn" some of the things they were taught about the character of God. May we all see Him for who He truly is! Bro Haber spoke on the subject “Sacrificing Souls for Religious Rites”. He explained how some Christians are like the Pharisees in Jesus’ day – afraid to get their hands dirty with the real needs of the publicans around them for fear that they will end up tainted. He brought out the example of the Pharisee who prayed “Lord, I’m thankful I’m not like this sinner man…” Jesus attitude was totally different – he ate with the sinners and mingled with them for an opportunity to do good to them. His concern proved effective for it was the sinners who came to him for help. Sinners still need help today and sometimes they cannot come to the “church” service. Sometimes, we might need to go to them, or to put ourselves in a position where we will meet people that God wants us to help. It takes a careful ear tuned to God’s still small voice to know when such an opportunity presents itself. God loves all souls and we should view each person in such a way. It should break our heart to see their lives bound with sin, but in no way make us feel superior to them. Nor should we focus on their faults – all the things they’re doing wrong – instead of their needs. We are obligated to help just as Christ would. Pray until God fills you with a heart of compassion for them. Thank the Lord He “looked beyond our faults and saw our need”. Let’s be careful that we have the some attitude as Christ who “came not into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved.” |
