God doesn’t have any grandchildren |
Thank God for grandparents! They are
loving, kind, caring, and giving! If you were to ask most any
grandparent, they would tell you that having grandchildren is wonderful
too. In fact, I’m sure we have all heard it said that “If I’d known
having grandkids was so much fun, I would have had them first.”
After so many generations of human beings, aren't there suppose to be
great-great-great-grandchildren of God? You will notice, however, that
the Bible never calls God our Grandfather, but only our Father. Why is
that?
God doesn’t have any grandchildren. He only has children.
Yes, He too is loving, kind, caring, and giving, but He has never
experienced the joy of being a grandparent or having a grandchild.
Though you may have been born into a Christian home, becoming a true
believer in CHRIST, becoming a child of God, is a personal decision.
Your parents cannot raise a Christian. They cannot grow a Christian. You
must choose to be a Christian.
A personal relationship with God has to be immediate and direct, like
that between a father and son or daughter. As we read in John 1:12-13,
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons
of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of
blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Each individual sinner must come to God through Christ, having been born
of God by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. The fact that one’s
father is a child of God does not give you a relationship to God as a
“grandfather.” If one does not receive Him by faith, we are not given
the right or privilege to consider ourselves as one of His own.
“We will not keep them secret from our children; we will make clear
to the coming generation the praises of the Lord and his strength, and
the great works of wonder which he has done… So that the generation to
come might have knowledge of them, even the children of the future, who
would give word of them to their children; So that they might put their
hope in God, and not let God's works go out of their minds, but keep his
laws.” - Psalms 78:4, 6-7
As the above scriptures note, there is great advantage to having
Christian parents and ancestry. So yes, a godly heritage is to one’s
great advantage, but it does not mean automatic salvation, because God
does not have grandchildren … only children!
Each of us makes the choice whether to be a son or daughter of God. You
can have a room full of adults talking, but in the midst of all that
noise, a child will know the voice of Mom and will make a beeline to
her. In the same way, in a room full of crying children, a mother will
know her child's cry. Our Father knows our cry and thank God, we know
His voice as well.
Two thousand years ago, a prominent spiritual leader came to Jesus.
Jesus immediately went to the core issue of all salvation, "You must,"
He said, "be born again."
You can be a faithful church member, a good tither, a Sabbath-keeper, a
caring person, even someone who is a good moral person, yet not be born
again. But, according to Jesus, you must be born again.
Being born again doesn't depend on what or whom you know. Being born
again is the experience of salvation in Christ. It's having a new life
in Jesus, an experience that comes only by death to self and a desire
to live for God.
Being born again is not a corporate experience. There are no twins or
triplets. God has no grandchildren, only children, born from His Spirit
alone. Instead, being born again is a crucial personal choice that will
fundamentally and radically change your life.
Are you a child of God? If not, you can be!
I'm So Glad I'm A Part Of The Family
Of God
I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God.
I’ve been washed in the fountain,
And cleansed by His blood.
Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod,
For I’m a part of the family.
The family of God.
You will notice we say "brother and sister" around here,
It’s because we’re a family and these folks are so near.
When one has a heartache we all share the tears,
We rejoice in each victory in this family so dear.
From the door of an orphanage to the house of the King!
No longer an outcast, but a new song I sing!
From rags unto riches, from the weak to the strong,
I’m not worthy to be here but praise God I belong.
