Cottage Prayer
Meeting Mar 21, 2007:
This evening we
met in the home of Bro and Sis Burton. They have been ill for some
time and we wanted to go and be an encouragement to them. Their son,
Chief and grandson were there and Chief expressed appreciation for
the saints and their lives over the many years.
We sang a few
congregational songs and shared testimonies. Bro Joe Coons played
the guitar and asked Bro Burton to sing "The Love Of God". Bro
Burton sang the verses and we all joined in on the chorus. This is
one of Bro Burton's favorite songs and it has come to represent his
theme in life. Sis Burton played a few songs on the piano and we
joined in singing some of the old Singing Burton family songs. Sis
Burton still has her unique style of playing the piano!
Bro Joe shared
some thoughts with us on keeping our minds stayed on God. At the end
of the lesson, the saints quoted together the scripture that says:
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to
come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able
to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord."
Thank God for
the Burtons. We love them very much.
