Spring Outreach Meeting
Report, Wednesday, Apr 25, 2007
Tonight was the
first night of our outreach effort. We had two visitors. Though the
weather was dreary outside, we gathered inside to join in songs of
worship, special singing, and a lesson
by Bro Joe Coons
concerning salvation.
Reading from Matthew
1:21, Bro Joe taught how sin brought enmity, or a separation between God
and man, and how Jesus came to save us from that sin. He came to take
away the sin from our life and thereby the enmity or separation between
us and God.
He continued by
explaining what sin is. Isaiah 53:6 says “all we like sheep have gone
astray and turned to our own way.” Sin is just turning to our way
instead of God’s – rebelling against a known commandment of God. He
then gave his personal testimony of how God changed his life or “saved
him from his sins”. To save means to deliver or take out of harm’s
way. Christ certainly came to deliver us from sin and to take us away
from the harm sin does to our body, spirit, and character. Thank God
there is hope through deliverance. Not just forgiveness, but
deliverance from sin. It can be removed far from us so we aren’t
“harmed” by it anymore. God is a gentleman though and won’t rescue you
without your permission. He is waiting for you to call for
deliverance. Have you been taken out of harm’s way? Would you like to
be?
