The South Charleston, Ohio November 2006 Outreach Meeting is now underway. Gods Spirit was upon us as 31 of us gathered in for the first meeting in this outreach effort. It was cold outside, but our hearts were warmed by the inspirational singing and testimonies of the saints. The Lord provided for us to have 4 kerosene heaters available, which kept the little rented chapel nice and cozy. We were glad to have the Rice family with us tonight. Their presence was an encouragement to us and we appreciated the songs that they sang, as well as others who ministered in song. The congregation sang from the Evening Light Song book, and we rejoiced as we offered up praise to God for giving us victory in our lives and for keeping us from sin. A song tape will be made available of the singing throughout the meeting. Sis Debbie Rude led in sharing the message tonight and her thought was The Sabbath Ordained by God. She showed how that the observation of the sabbath day was not intended to be just a law, but instead symbolized something far greater than the ritual itself. From the very beginning, He wanted His creation to experience a perpetual soul rest. His underlying purpose was to get people to understand the loving relationship that He wanted to have with them. He wanted them so see that His desire was for them to cease or stop sinning and doing your own thing and honor God with our lives. The Bible says in Proverbs 13:15 … the way of transgressors is hard. He yet wants us to stop from our labors and to seek that soul rest that is found only in Him. When Jesus came, He intentionally broke the Sabbath ritual so the Jews could see God was not focused on the ritual, but rather the spiritual meaning. As our example, Jesus said “Come unto me all you that labor, and I will give you rest”. We are thankful that we have found this soul rest. He invites all to come to Him and experience rest and peace. Please continue to lift this meeting up in prayer. |
