Psalms 106:39  Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. 

In the Bible, God’s church is compared to a virtuous woman. More specifically, she is the bride of Christ. She has life. She has love. She is a living organism. Every member operates in perfect harmony and has a unique place in the body. 

1 Corinithians 12:14  -23, 27: Our bodies don't have just one part. They have many parts. Suppose a foot says, "I'm not a hand, and so I'm not part of the body." Wouldn't the foot still belong to the body? Or suppose an ear says, "I'm not an eye, and so I'm not part of the body." Wouldn't the ear still belong to the body? If our bodies were only an eye, we couldn't hear a thing. And if they were only an ear, we couldn't smell a thing. But God has put all parts of our body together in the way that he decided is best. A body isn't really a body, unless there is more than one part. It takes many parts to make a single body. That's why the eyes cannot say they don't need the hands. That's also why the head cannot say it doesn't need the feet. In fact, we cannot get along without the parts of the body that seem to be the weakest. Together you are the body of Christ. Each one of you is part of his body. 

False religion is also compared to a woman. She is even given a name.  

Revelation 17:5  And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 

Unlike the church, that virtuous woman which originated with God in heaven, the false church is man-made. Her origin is of the earth; within the minds of men. 

In a sense, she can be compared to a robot. 

A robot is lifeless, yet it moves. It cannot think for itself. It must be told what to do. It only responds to commands. It must be programmed.  

Though it may have eyes, it cannot see. Though it may have ears, it cannot hear. Though it may have a head, it cannot understand. 

Mystery Babylon, the false church system, is indeed like a robot. Though she gathers together week after week in a “church building”, she has no real life. She has no real heart for souls. Though she has a form of worship, with her ritualistic programs, she has no power with God. Her leaders issue command after command; “do this” and “do that”, yet these commands never bring her true understanding as to the character of God. 

Though her church members have eyes, they cannot see spiritual things. Though they have ears, they cannot hear the voice of God. Though they say that Christ is their head, they cannot understand what He is saying. 

God does not desire us to be mindless robots, faithful to the beckoning call and whimsical commands of men. Rather, He is calling us to be His living, faithful bride. He is calling us into a personal long-term relationship with Jesus Christ. 

Man's complex machinery will eventually malfunction, short circuit and fail. God’s church, His holy bride, will operate and succeed, because she was designed by the Master builder.
