Youth Rally, Sunday Evening, Apr 6, 2008,

This evening, we had our third Youth Rally. Sis Tracy brought a very good lesson on choices and the importance of making good decisions. She demonstrated this by bringing to the meeting different types of bags, each with an object in it. All the youth picked out their own special bag. They were not allowed to look in the bag or shake it around. They picked their bag solely by the external appearance. Each youth opened their bag, one at a time. The more beautiful and shimmering bags (mostly picked out by the girls) had things like a big rock, cat food, dirt, and one even had a soiled sock in it. Other bags had candy. The big trash bag had a large bag of candy in it! The object of the lesson was not to judge merely by outward appearance as looks can be deceiving.

Proverbs 1:7  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (8)  My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: (10)  My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. (11)  If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: (15)  My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: (16)  For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

The world is out to get our youth and to take their innocence away. Sis Tracy instructed them to be careful for those persons who would entice them to turn away from good and join with them to do evil. If the youth can start developing good decision making practices now in their early years, as time goes on, they will be more apt to make good decisions in their developing years, when their decisions will be more impacting.

It was a lesson that the youth will remember for years to come. Sis Tracy's gift really showed itself this evening!

The meeting was followed by a time of food and fellowship. With the meeting at the Nursing Home this afternoon, this was a very busy, but rewarding day
