Sunday Evening, August 10, 2008,
Tonight, Sister Joanne brought a lesson titled “The True Road to
Success”. Based on the story of The Tortoise and the Hare, she told
about the spiritual race we are in and how we must not let anything
sidetrack us from winning it. We should not allow ourselves to get
overconfident and careless like the hare, thinking we have it made.
Such an attitude will cause us to get our mind onto something else
and take away all hope of gaining the prize.
God
really isn’t concerned about how quickly we can run; this race is
about faithfulness and endurance. “He that is faithful until the
end will receive the crown of life.” Many people, like the
tortoise, have had a handicap that would make it seem impossible to
overcome and make something of themselves in life. Yet they
persisted and overcame those odds and are remembered today for it.
Remember, life isn’t about great abilities; it’s about being
faithful to use what you have.
Not to the strong is the
battle, not to the swift is the race, but to the true and the
faithful victory is conquered through grace. |
