Sunday Evening, December
13, 2009,
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and
hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes,
desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby -
1 Peter 2:1-2
Ye also, as lively
stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer
up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. - 1Peter
2:5
This
evening, we were blessed to have Sis Rose from Oregon with us in our
assembly. The Laywell family was also with us as they are visiting
family in the area. We had a wonderful time and Sis Rose remarked
that "this is the way it is supposed to be", in reference to the
manner and conduct of our gathering.
The singing was in the
spirit, with several of the saints sharing in song and testimony.
Bro Dillow continued
with his thoughts from the morning assembly and covered the last two
things mentioned by Peter in which we are instructed to lay aside,
namely, envies, and all evil speakings.
4. Envy - a feeling of
discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages,
success, possessions, etc.
5. Evil speaking -
speaking evil of others.
After a lengthy and
thorough discussion on these last two issues, Bro Dillow proceeded
to show us that God cannot and will not build his church on a
foundation that includes stones made up of the five things listed in
the first verse of chapter. His church is holy and He will only uses
holy people in the upbuilding of His church. These things must be
laid aside in our lives if they present at all.
It was a wonderful day
in the Lord! Very rich and very edifyng!
