Sunday Evening, July 20, 2008,
Sunday night Bro. Joe led a discussion about Unprofitable Servants
taken from Luke 17:7-10. He explained that when we do what Christ
commands for our life, we should not expect praise for it since we
are only doing what He wants us to do. We need to remember that we
don’t benefit God. The real benefit is on our end. It is only by His mercy
that we even have a
relationship with Him. We come into this bargain (salvation) with nothing to
offer Him. He is the one who has invested in us and we could never
repay Him for that. In terms of investments, instead of a profit to
Him, we are actually a liability. This thought should keep our
attitude humble. Never get “heady” and think that God or the church
couldn’t get along without you. On the contrary, you can’t get
along without Him or the help of fellow Christians. It is only
when we stay little in your own eyes that God can
use you. |
