Sunday Evening, July 11, 2010,

Should Christians get mad? Do Christians get angry? What is the difference between the two?

This evening, we had another great gathering in which we discussed the answers to these questions.

To get mad means to take action as a result of being angry. It is the loss of control. Madness is never spoken of favorable in the scriptures. A Christian should never get mad or even use expressions such as "I'm mad" or "I got so mad...". If we get mad, we should repent and seek forgiveness.

Anger, on the other hand is an emotion that we all have and occasionally have to deal with. Jesus got angry and there are other people in the Bible who got angry as well. However, we should not allow feelings of anger to move us to take actions that are not Christ-like. There is a line that can be crossed in which feelings of anger can led to sin. Christians should avoid even getting close this line. It is one thing to become angry, it is another to sin.

With Christian maturity, empowerment of the Spirit of God, and even with age, we can keep feelings of anger in their rightful place and stay clear of sinful acts.

An outline of the lesson is available by clicking here.
