Sunday Evening, July 25, 2010,

Tonight we were blessed to have Sis Barbara and her neighbor in our meeting. It seems that nearly every Sunday, we have visitors at our gatherings. We are thankful that we can be an encouragement in the lives of those around us.

Sis Debbie spoke to us about the comparison between the story of Cinderella and the call of God.

She talked about:

1.  Gal 5:13  Called to freedom – freedom from self, sin, and Satan.

2.  Called to fellowship with God and our fellow man  I John 1:3, 7

3.  Called to duty.  God’s call is a call to make the Christian useful in this world.  Gal 6:2; I John3:17-18

4.  Call to privilege.  The Greek word Kalein is often used when referring to an invitation to a banquet or feast.  A welcome to a guest.  Rev 19:9  Call is a call to come and enjoy fellowship with God.  Be a guest of God.

5.  Call to judgment.  If we refuse the call of God, someday there will be a reckoning day.

6.   Call to salvation.  To answer the call saves us from the penalty of sin and gives us strength for this life.

7.  Call of grace.  We don’t deserve this invitation, but because of God’s love he chose us.  Rom 5:8, Eph 2:8

8.  Call of hope.  A rags to riches story.

9.  Call of eternal life and inheritance.  To share in glory of heaven, the splendor of the life of God.

10. Call to honor.

You can read her outline by clicking here. It was quite interesting and we have discovered that many children's stories seem to have an application to spiritual things and can be used to tell the story of the gospel in a way that children can relate to.
