Sunday
Evening,
June 8, 2008,
Tonight we gathered at the Rude's home for meeting. We had a good
time of inspirational singing and then studied about the need for
spiritual exercise. The room was full of saints and we even spilled
out into a second room. Bro Dillow led the study and continued
with his thought from a previous lesson.
Since some of us have been trying to stick to a regular
physical exercise routine, this lesson fit in quite well!
We
discussed I Timothy 4:7-8 along with the benefits of exercise – how
it takes discipline and consistency for exercise to have real
benefits. We found that physical activity improves mood and
stamina. Then we related the topic spiritually. What would be
considered “spiritual exercises”? Anything that causes us to grow
stronger and healthier such as reading/meditation, praying, faith,
etc. All these must be done consistently to properly benefit us.
It takes self-discipline to form a habit until it just comes
naturally to do it. Our spiritual exercises should become so much a
part of our life that we always take time for them, and feel like we
are missing something if we don’t.
How
is your spiritual exercise routine? Are you spiritually fit? What
would your body look like if it reflected your spiritual exercises?
After the meeting, we shared in a Christian love feast, but that is
another story for another day! |
