Sunday Evening, May
25, 2008,
This
evening, Bro Dillow brought a timely lesson on seducing spirits. His
text was taken from 1 Timothy 4 and was geared towards the youth. He
covered many areas, including the evils of the present day Gothic
movement that is so prevalent in our schools and neighborhoods. There
were 19 children and young people in the meeting and many of them
shared stories and personnel experiences and observations. The enemy
of our soul will work to deceive as many as possible, but thank God
with the Word and the Spirit, we need not be ignorant of his evil
and dark devices.
In
our community, there has been a recent rash of suicides and deaths
among young people, and even small children. It seems that the devil
is working overtime to get our youth. Thank God for godly parents
and concerned saints who carry a burden for the youth of our day.
It
is very important that parents stay actively involved in their
children's lives and activities because there is so much evil
surrounding us. In the meeting we discussed the importance of what
we watch, such as DVDs and other visual methods of entertainment. We
also discussed role-playing games, witchcraft, Gothicism, devil
possession, Ouija
boards,
self-injury (cutting oneself) among other things. It was a very
interactive and open discussion and we are so thankful that our
youth are in an environment where they are free to have these types
of discussions, sharing their input and asking important questions.
Just for them to hear and know that the saints are behind them and
supporting them through genuine love and prayer brings a bonding
that will help them in their times of temptation and question! While
parents are not always there when situations may suddenly present
themselves, we can instill godly principles what will guide our
youth in times of question.
We
really appreciate Bro Dillow carrying a burden for our youth and
bring this lesson. It was one of the most interactive lessons to
date and the youth were very attentive throughout the entire
evening. |
