Sunday Evening, November 8, 2009,
This evening, we were
thankful to have a couple of sisters from the local community meet
with us. One of the saints came in contact with one of the sisters
at work and shared with her how we are striving to be a simple
organic church patterned after the New Testament church. She wanted
to come and see for herself if what she was told was actually true.
She was not disappointed. She said that they would definitely be
back.
Bro Dillow brought
some thoughts from Philippians chapter 2. He focused on verses 12-
15:
12
- Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my
presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your
own salvation with fear and trembling.
13
- For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of
his
good pleasure.
14
- Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15
- That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God,
without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation,
among whom ye shine as lights in the world
The discussion was
rich with many thoughts being shared by the saints. Of particular
interest was verse 12. God is not calling the saints to be clones of
each other, but he is calling for the saints to individually work
out their relationship with God in a manner that brings maximum
glory to Him. When the focus is on letting God direct us, the saints
will remain faithful to their God-given convictions even when they
are absent from the presence of one another. Only than will we be the
lights of the world. |
