Sunday Evening, October 25, 2009,

This evening, the saints gathered together and a beautiful spirit of harmony prevailed throughout the meeting. We are just a small assembly (about 30-35 who regularly meet together), but God meets with us and we are very thankful for that. We were blessed to have Kenny and Bob with us again this evening. Bob, the homeless man, was able to get a job as a fork lift operator. He starts tomorrow. We thank the Lord for His faithfulness to answer this prayer burden. There are still many needs, so please continue to lift Bob up in prayer.

Sis Karen and Sis Debbie sang the old song "The Upper Window" and it was a real blessing. The words are as follow:

Chorus:

“The storms will come, but fear not, oh, children, I am nigh,
And through the upper window, you’ll see Me standing by.”

Verse 1

“When God spoke unto Noah, and told him to build the ark,
The Lord knew well the vessel would cheerless be and dark,
So God said, “Build a window, with outlook toward the sky,
That when it’s dark and lonesome, you’ll see Me standing by.”

Verse 2

“It may be that affliction will rack and rend your frame,
Until your mortal body is seared with fevered flame;
But do not be discouraged, just lift your tear-dimmed eye,
And through the upper window, you’ll see Me standing by.”

Verse 3

“Perhaps you’ll suffer losses, like houses, lands, and gold,
And you will feel you’re homeless, and penniless, and old;
But sweetest peace and comfort will lift your painful sigh,
When through the upper window, you’ll see Me standing by.”

 Verse 4

“It may be that bereavement will take a loved one dear,
A soul that brought you gladness, real happiness and cheer;
But it will cheer your sad heart, when loved ones from you fly,
When through the upper window, you’ll see Me standing by.”

We are so thankful that when circumstances around us seem difficult and challenging, we can, and should, always look up!

Bro Joe continued with his thought today from Psalm 34:6. He cited many examples from both the Old and New Testaments of people who cried out to the Lord (or "croaked" as literally translated), and He heard them and saved them from all their troubles. God is not our "go-for", but we are thankful that when we need Him, He stands up for us!
