Sunday, Mar 9, 2008,

Yesterday, we had a major blizzard hit our area. We had 12" - 18" of snow, with drifts of over 2 feet. The roads were closed down and a Level 3 emergency was declared. Still digging out on Sunday, we were unable to meet together.

The poor birds had no place to find food as there was snow everywhere. We kept our bird feeder stocked and at times there were probably 200 birds or more gathered around. Cardinals, starlings, black birds, cow birds, wrens, finches, doves, blue jays & sparrows. As we watched them flying around the bird feeder eating up the seed, we were reminded of that beautiful song, His Eye is on the Sparrow. God will always supply our needs, and sometimes He may use a friend to do so. In a sense, we are all beggars telling others where we found bread!

We will certainly be glad when Spring arrives!

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
