Sunday Morning, April 25, 2010,
And
Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick
darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: They saw not one
another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the
children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
- Exodus 10:22-23
This
morning, the Jehovah's Witness sect rented out part of the Marriott
for a conference. It was said in our meeting that there were
Jehovah's Witnesses in one room and then there was us, witnesses of
Jehovah. :o)
Sis
Melody, who only sings on occasion, sang two solos today and also
sang in a duet with Sis Joanne. All the songs and testimonies seemed
to flow into an overall theme of God caring for His children and our
responsibility to be faithful to him and to each other.
Bro Joe
brought some thoughts about the Israelites having light in their
dwellings, while others around them were under the plague of gross
darkness. With a world today full of so much darkness, we are
thankful the we are in the light and that it is brightly shining. In
fact, the saints' lights should shine more brightly now than ever
before. People are looking for an answer and it is our desire that
they see Christ reflected in our daily lives. Even in hard and
difficult times, we are thankful that we can ever be examples of
what it means to be true followers of Christ.
The
lesson was an encouragement and the saints shared their thoughts
with each other.
Jordan
Scott (picture below), a 12 year old boy who comes to our meetings
on his own accord as no one else in his family comes with him, fell
yesterday on concrete and knocked out both of his front teeth. His
face is swollen and cut up. He was in the hospital emergency room
from 7:00 pm until 3:00 am this morning. Just before we left to pick
him up for the meeting, his mother called and told us what had
happened to him. She tried to convince him to stay home, but he
didn't want to. She said that Jordan told the doctors and nurses
that he needed to get home because, in his words "he had to be at
church at 10:30 in the morning". What commitment this little boy
has! His mother got him a face mask and he wore it to the meeting.
Thankfully, he has no pain but is facing some tough days ahead.
Please pray for him and that all the financial details will get
worked out. His mother has no dental insurance and he will need to
have permanent crowns put in since these were his second set of
teeth.
