"Whosoever will be
great among you, shall be your minister. And whosoever of you will
be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man
came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his
life a ransom for many."
What can I do for
you? - This question Jesus asked several times to several different
people. Some answered selfishly and others asked out of need or
necessity. Our discussion today centered around Mark chapters 9 and
10.
Jesus, who
demonstrated true servant hood by His actions, answered according to
the need and He worked with those who asked selfishly. To those who
asked amiss and wanted personal gain or benefit from Jesus' kind and
loving offer, He brought forth a child as an illustration and
instructed the requestors to be humble and to become as children. To
those who asked for a position of power, Jesus taught them to not
think as the world thinks..... and then He washed their feet. The
King of all kings washing the feet of His own creation!
Let us be like Jesus and
be always reminded that the first shall be last and the last shall
be first. : |
