Sunday Morning, Feb 17, 2008,

1Corinthians 14:29-31  "Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.  For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted."

This morning, we discussed the manner in which the New Testament church assembled themselves. Unlike today's spectator churches where one person does all the speaking (usually employed by the spectators), in the early days of the church the saints were all involved in edifying one another and exercising their individual gifts during assembly meetings.

Many today are claiming to be the New Testament church, yet they operate nothing like the early church that we read about in Acts - Revelation, nor do they have a fraction of the spiritual insight and power of the early church. Rather, they have taken up a form of religion, handed down to them from an apostate church system. Thank God we have been given liberty to freely study and rightly divide God's eternal word and mold ourselves into the image of what we discover. As one sister said in the meeting today, "We have become explorers." Indeed we have, explorers of truth, and thank God we have the original MAP to go by! It was right there in front of our eyes all the time, but we could not see through all the tradition to see it. Even the Bible center column reference for this scripture passage said "the manner of worship", but somehow through all the form we were taught we had missed it for many years.

Thank God for all the understanding He is giving to us. Purer light is coming fast!

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.

Open my eyes, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear.

Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, My God, Thy will to see;
Open my eyes, illumine me,
Spirit divine!
