"To emote or not to
emote, that is the question."
We had a wonderful
meeting this morning. It was wonderful because the Spirit of God was
in our midst. The singing was in the Spirit. The testimonies and
exhortations were in the Spirit. The praying was in the Spirit. And
the teaching was in the Spirit.
Bro Dillow took on the
issue of emotionalism today. He laid a good foundation for
discussion on the purpose of our emotions. He pointed that our
emotions should originate from the heart. We should never have to be
emotionally manipulated nor should we ever seek to manipulate others
through their emotions.
On one side of the
spectrum of religion, there are people who use extreme emotional
appeals to crate excessive emotionalism. On the other extreme side
there are those who are formalist and do not allow their emotions to
flow freely from the heart. Both extremes are sinful.
It was a great lesson
with much participation from the saints.
