Sunday Morning, July 25, 2010,

This morning, we had a first time speaker! Sis Barbie Brown spoke to us about facing our giants in life. I'm sure it was somewhat of a giant for her to stand before us and speak, but she overcame her fear and was victorious.

She brought out some very good thoughts. She started by playing a song called Voice of Truth. She then read the story of David and Goliath in 1 Sam 17. She pointed out that sometimes it seems to be easier to listen to a negative influence in our lives than to the voice of truth.

She also noted that even after David came forward to meet the challenge, the King wanted to burden him down with unnecessary "baggage", in his case it was oversized and heavy armory. Spiritually, there are times when well meaning people or the enemy of our soul can cause us to become burdened down with things that we should leave behind. David simply offloaded this baggage and chose to use what he was most familiar with, that being a slingshot and a stone. And it worked!

Sis Barbie also read from Matt 8 where the disciples became fearful in the face of adversity. Fear is a hindering factor to our faith and many times we need Jesus to calm the storm.

She ended by reading in Isaiah 26, where it says that if we honor the Lord, he will bring about peace. It was an excellent lesson and we were all encouraged by it and Sis Barbie's willingness to obey God and bring forth His Word to us.

We ended the meeting by gathering around Sis Barbie and Sis Melody and having special prayer that God would grant them the strength and courage to face their giants with victory.
