Sunday Morning, June 22, 2008,
This morning, Bro Dillow brought a lesson of encouragement from Psalms 46.
God is my
refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. He pointed
out that world conditions, such as the recent floods, hurricanes,
earthquakes, etc..., reflect that our lives are uncertain.
Christians are not exempt from trouble, however, they have a place
of refuge during their times of trouble. Sometimes, Christians can
become weak, particularly when they are (1) called upon to perform
God's duties, (2) when they make greet personal sacrifices, and (3)
when they are going through times of temptation. However, the
scriptures teach, and we have found it to be true, that when we are
weak, then are we made strong through the power of God.
During the meeting, Sis Joanne Coons' mother made the observation
that when she was in the third grade, she used to quote our
scripture text as "God is a pleasant help in times of
trouble." Yes, Carolyn, God is both a pleasant help and a
present help. And with Him by our side, "I can do all things...".
Praise the Lord!
