Sunday Morning, June 8, 2008,

This morning we met at Buck Creek State Park for meeting. It was an absolute beautiful morning with the temperature just right for an open air shelter house meeting. The birds were singing in the trees and the saints were singing and making a joyful noise in praise and adoration to our heavenly Father, for surely He is a good God!

Bro Dale brought a lesson on the promises of God. Two things that God cannot do are lie or fail. His promises are always true, yet conditional.  God has His part and we have ours. If we will be true in keeping our part, God WILL be true in keeping His part.

We spent time going through every line of the song Standing on the Promises . It was a blessing to know that no matter what the circumstance, God will always work things out for those who love him and who are called according to His purpose. The sweet Spirit of God was present in our midst and we were all very much encouraged in the Lord.

Standing on the Promises
by R. Kelso Carter, 1849-1926

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
through eternal ages let his praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail.
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to him eternally by love's strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
listening every moment to the Spirit's call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of Christ my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.
