Sunday Morning, March 7, 2010,
God is our refuge
and strength, a very present help in trouble.
- Psalm 46:1
This
morning, Bro Dillow led a discussion about the strength of the Lord.
He pointed out that Christians get tired at times and we have to be
refreshed and strengthened. Sometimes this strength in needed in the
inner man, sometime in the outer man and sometimes we need to be
strengthened in our souls and in our spirit. No matter the source of
our weakness, God’s strength is available to live a godly and holy
life.
Several
of the saints gave testimony to having needed strength at various
times in their lives, but in every case, God made His strength
available and they were able to press on and be overcomers. Thank
the Lord. God must surely be a mighty God to share Himself and His
strength with so many people. And yet His strength is never
exhausted.
Some of
the greatest spiritual leaders of the past, including Paul the
apostle, knew that their strength was limited and were keenly aware
of their own weaknesses, yet they realized that to succeed they had
access to an endless source of strength made available to them
through our Lord. It was for this reason that they could boldly
proclaim “When I am weak, then am I made strong.”
There
is strength beyond measure,
In God's comforting word.
Seek His storehouse of treasure,
There is strength in the Lord.
