This
morning, we met together and had an interesting discussion, After
some singing and prayer, we discussed the words to a song called
"The Bible Way". It was written by B E Warren in 1911. We have
sang this song hundreds of times and never fully realized what it meant.
The words are as follows:
The
Lord invites you in,
Oh, come to Him, I pray;
He’ll save your soul from sin
The Bible way.
Refrain:
There is but one true way,
There is but one true way;
He’ll save your soul from sin’s control
The Bible way.
A name
to live while dead,
Will only God betray;
Then come as He hath said,
The Bible way.
No
human creed or church
Will answer in that day,
When God each heart will search;
Then choose His way.
The
many ways of strife
Are leading souls astray;
The word of God is life,
The truth, the way.
We
quickly
realized that this song was written on behalf of sinners. The first
verse makes that clear. The second verse was written to a religious
professor who, although he may have a form of religion, he has not
been converted. The third verse was for the benefit of a religious
person as well, yet this person is hiding behind the security of a
church or doctrine. We concluded that the last verse was
written due to all the confusion that was/is caused by false
churches and the hope that innocent people could see through the
deadness of religion and the fussing among church people, and
hopefully get a glimpse of who God really is and the spiritual life that is available
though salvation.
Is it
funny how you can sing a song for many years and never really focus
on what the author was saying. It was a rich experience this
morning, and even though we ended up talking about Coke, cocaine and
caffeine at one point, we enjoyed ourselves and the presence of each
other.

Quite a
few of the saints attended Family Day at another local congregation.
Due to this and other considerations, we
dismissed the evening meeting.
