Sunday Morning, November
15, 2009,
In praise of God, 'Great is Thy Faithfulness,' a hymn written by
Thomas O. Chisholm (1866-1960), is a worship song that uplifts the
Christian heart. It was a result of a writer's daily experiences and
realization of God's faithfulness.
The tune is composed by William M. Runyan (1870-1957), with
scripture reference from the Bible's Lamentations 3:22-23 - "Because
of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions
never fail."
This morning, before we sang this beloved song, we focused our
discussion on the expression found in the first verse.
"Great is Thy faithfulness," O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
We shared testimonies of God's faithfulness and gave praise that
indeed He changes not, neither in His character nor in His
compassion towards mankind. The meeting was marked by organic
worship and openness.
One brother, who was not feeling well, said that he pressed his way
out because "you never know what you will miss." How true. Our
meetings are never the same and we endeavor to allow the Holy Spirit
to have His right of way in leading, guiding and directing.
We also gave honor to Bro and Sis Dillow, on this their 49th Wedding
Anniversary. Both shared in the meeting to the goodness and
faithfulness of God.
