Sunday Morning, October 18, 2009,

This morning, we met at the downtown Marriott Conference room and had a man from local area visit with us. Two of the brothers have recently met him and have ministered to him prior to his visiting us today. He is temporarily homeless and in much need of help from the Lord.

Befitting to the setting, Bro Dillow brought a lesson on loving God and loving each other, not just by word, but in deed and in truth. If there is one compliment that we appreciate more than others, it is that we dwell too much on loving God!!! Let it ever be said that we focus on God's love!

In Mark 12, when the scribe asked Jesus what was the greatest commandment, he did not answer back by offering a deep theological discourse, and prophetical proclamation or expounding on one of the "Ten cardinal doctrines of the Church of God", Jesus simply said to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.... and then love each other as yourself! Wow! Does the modern church have this wrong or what? How simple are Christ's words, yet how profound. Keeping these two commandments is an all inclusive life experience.

Loving people was the reason that Jesus came to die for man's sin. As Joel noted during the meeting today, He loved them "to death". His death! He demonstrated His love by doing, and not just talking about doing. "No greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Finally, John told us that "hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth."

Today, we were able to demonstrate God's love in a real way!
