Wednesday Evening, October 31, 2007, We gathered together, over thirty of us, for the first night of the revival meeting with much anticipation. Fliers have been distributed and many personal invitations given to come out and hear the Gospel- the Good News of Salvation. After much singing, Bro. Brian Haber spoke about God’s Plan from the Beginning. Taking us back to creation, he pointed out how God created the world and it was “good”, but when He created man, it was “very good”. God was lonely and wanted someone to be his companion or friend. He found pleasure in creating man. He loved mankind, even when man did not love Him in return. God is good and only wants the best for His creation. Even back in the Garden, God devised a way to bring man back to Him. By sacrifice! In sacrificing the animal, God showed Adam…it will cost me something to do so, but I WANT to forgive you! Forgiveness is a sacrifice on the victim’s part. God desired Adam to see what it cost Him to forgive by taking an animal that, no doubt, Adam had cared for so Adam could see how much it cost God to forgive. God never has and never will be a God of retribution – wanting to get even with someone for the sake of His “justice” or to punish them for their wrong. He will always be a God of grace and forgiveness. Even back in the Garden of Eden there was mercy, grace, and forgiveness. I am the Lord, I change not. Thank God for the Good News; this blessed hope for all. |
