Women......they
can be Presidents and Vice Presidents, but they are
restricted from being Roman Catholic Popes or Priests, Eastern
Orthodox Patriarchs, Protestant Preachers or Church of God
Pastors. They can lead millions of people in our great nation,
but not the few members in our nation's individual churches
....... says who?
Today, 84 years after women were granted voting rights, a major
milestone was achieved when in nearby Dayton, Ohio, John McCain
announced to the world that
Alaska Governor
Sarah Palin would be his running mate as Vice Presidential
candidate. She is a woman with conservative values and is a very
welcome addition to the political mix of candidates in the 2008
election campaigns.
It
would seem that the political world has made greater strides in
recognizing and valuing women leadership than many in the
religious world.
History clearly shows the prohibition of women leadership is
deeply rooted in the darkness of Catholicism. "Mama" passed on
her male-only teaching to the early Protestants, who in turn
spread this doctrine to varying degrees among the many
Protestant denominations of our day. Even among those who do not
claim to be Protestants, there are many who severely restrict or
openly oppose women in leadership positions. Such is the case
among the church group of which we came out.
But
God's Word is very clear when it comes to the role that women
play in the leadership of His church. For more on this subject,

Meeting
Reports page.
Good
choice John McCain! Now if we can just get Christians to
recognize the value of woman in the church, we will make even
greater strides in overcoming the moral decay all around us! |
