Youth Rally
August 17, 2008
What do
youth, frogs, turtles, crawdads, volleyball, singing and
incrementalism all have in common?
August
Youth Rally!
Today we
held another Youth Rally -this time at George Rogers Clark Park. As
we sang the opening songs, our minds went to how God gave us nature
to enjoy and to cause us to glorify Him.
There were
about 45 people in attendance and we were thankful to see some new
faces. We enjoyed a picnic after the service and the kids – young
and old – had a good time hiking trails, playing games, and catching
all kinds of creek creatures.
Bro. Joe
brought a lesson on Incrementalism (click
here for outline). He used the expression “inch by
inch, it’s a cinch” to explain how our life is a series of
increments, one step at a time, towards a goal. He demonstrated
this by having several young boys take a jar full of BBs and drop
them, one at a time, into a larger container. By the time the
lesson was over, the bottom of the bigger container wasn’t quite
covered, yet there were 2000 BBs in it!
Everything
we do adds up over time, yet each step might not amount to much.
For example, we might be able to get away with being lazy one day,
but if it were a daily habit, our homes and lives would be a wreck
(Prov. 16:24-33). Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day and any great
accomplishment is done just one day or one step at a time. Be
not weary in well doing, for in due season you shall reap if you
faint not. (Gal. 6:9).
The young
people really enjoys these meetings and we are thankful for everyone
who carries a burden for our youth.
