During the week of June 23, 2008, we held our first Youth Camp. Classes started at 9:30 AM each day and ended at 1:00 PM. A bible-based lesson was given each morning on subjects related to the home. Open participation was encouraged throughout the week. As goes the home, so goes the nation….and the church. How important it is to train up our children with a holy respect for God and spiritual things! To borrow the colloquialism, our aim is to focus on the family. Youth Camp 2008 was geared towards family relationships, particularly brothers and sisters. Based on the book Making Brother’s and Sister’s Best Friends, we discussed such things as:
The youth camp was held on a farm and after the lesson and lunch time, the youth rode dirt bikes, 4-wheeler, and horses. They also got to get up close with chickens, ducks, pigs, cows and horses. Participation was good and so was attendance, although we chose to focus this first camp for the benefit of our own children and therefore we did not invite guests. We trust the fruit of the camp will last for years to come. We plan on having these camps throughout the summer.
